Ashland Hiking Home

On Monday, we started in the CVS parking lot with a big turnout of hikers, including two new members. Then we met three more at the O-T Woods TH, for a grand total of 22.

We were doing the Trans Ashland hike, which takes us through three parks, Oredson-Todd Woods, Liberty St Park, and Lithia Park, before stopping for lunch on the Plaza, then taking the #10 bus back to Ashland Street & Tolman Creek and a short walk back to the CVS lot.

Oredson-Todd Woods featured a slanted small waterfall (called a wash) and some special wildflowers. We saw along the trail the start of Washington lilies, then purple Larkspur, green Mission Bell Fritillary, Calypso Orchid, and Scarlet Fritillary.

We climbed the trail out of O-T woods, went by the beginning of the White Rabbit trail, then started down Park Street to a left onto the TID  canal trail. We'd use the TID and sidewalks and roads to connect with the parks in our journey across Ashalnd. It's an up and down hike with about 800' of gain and 6.2 miles.

By the time we reached the Plaza, everyone still with us were ready for lunch at Skout's.

It was an excellent day and a new hiking experience for some.

Happy Trails,
Rich
